The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance, CSGGG has disclosed plans to host its 2020 roundtable workshop on fake news and malicious reportage.

President of the group, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic, in a press statement made available to newsmen on Friday, stated that the forthcoming event themed: “The Role of Civil Society Organisations in Curbing the Menace of Fake News and Malicious Reportage, for Good Governance and National Unity”, will focus on breeding and cross fertilizing ideas on how best to effect a paradigm shift in the Nigerian social web space, from disseminating and trafficking fake news to trading credible, factual and accuracy in news reportage, as well as interpersonal social communications.

Ogakwu reiterated that fake news has been a deadly enemy to the nation, nonetheless the unity and peaceful co-existence of our nation can never be negotiable, he however enjoined Nigerians to embrace the need to verify information's before publication to avoid conjuring issues that will cause chaos and threaten our national development.

The event which will be holding on the 17th of December, 2020 at the National Merit House Banquet Hall, Maitama Abuja, Time: 9;am, will however feature participants from different civil society groups in Nigeria, media stations, different brands, online bloggers, social media influencers and some government agencies.

Breaking News: Man implicates wife, lover in alleged missing child case

A man, identified as Alfred Ayo, has appealed to the Federal Government to intervene in the case of his missing child.

Ayo in a video posted on his Facebook page said his wife and her lover connived to hide his child for the purpose seeking undue favour.

Ayo claimed that the child claimed to have been missing at Christ Mercy Land Church in Warri has been hiding somewhere in Imo State, adding that his child is only being used for business and not missing.

Ayo had in a similar video last week had accused his alleged wife Ruth of selling their child with her boyfriend, insisting that his wife and her boyfriend knows the whereabout of his son Testimony.

Ruth had alleged that Fufeyin kidnapped one of her sons after she brought three of them to the church.

Although the Nigerian Police had dismissed the case stating that the allegations “were inconsistent with the truth.”

Founder of Abuja based Human Right Radio, popularly referred to as Brekete family, Ordinary Ahmed Isa, who was at some point investigating the story earlier this month slammed Ruth and her supporters over the case of the alleged missing child.

Isa, while speaking during a live programme on the radio station had said he won’t be used in pulling down anyone, stressing that the station would not be involved in cases that have iota of lies.

Reacting to the case Isa said the woman who brought up the case could not substantiate her claims and was also looking for ways to use the opportunity to move abroad.

While some people had accused the station of being bribed into dropping the case, Isa said most of the people accusing the station were only looking for cheap publicity and would have rather continued the case if they are able to substantiate it.

The development, which came up about three years, resurfaced recently as some pastors and NGO stood up to seek justice. The development had led the church to file a suite in court over the issue, stating that there was need to put final stop to the matter.

Ayo, who spoke at court premises in the video said he only realised what was going after his attention was drawn to some publication on the internet about the case.

While appealing for government intervention over the case, Ayo noted that his wife and the boyfriend he ran after knew the where about of the child.

Ayo alleged that the wife also ran away with his money, adding that he needed help in recovering his babe and his money.

Controversial and faceless Instagram blog “Gist Lover” has suffered public lashing after posting fake news alluding to an affair between Billionaire Prophet, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, and fast-rising international Interior Designer and CEO of Sayaveth Interiors, Ehi Ogbebor.

One such protest came from popular Nigerian Comedian and Presenter, MC Okpeke on the “MC Okpeke Show”. He used the case of Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, Senior Prophet and founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, who had, a short time ago, been falsely alleged to be having an affair with Ehi Ogbebor of Sayaveth Interiors, in the same incorrigible fake news- blog.

The comedian shared the story of how Ehi Ogbebor was contracted for the furnishing and finishing of the Omoto Fufeyins’ family home in Warri, Delta. The Interior Designer went on to share the news of such a major collaboration on her social media, saying that she was grateful for such an opportunity and that the Omoto Fufeyin mansion was an unrivaled edifice in Warri, Delta. The notorious Gist Lover manipulated and distorted this information, maliciously suggesting an illicit affair between both parties.

MC Okpeke expressed utter disgust at the antics of the notorious blog, popular for blackmailing celebrities and big- names by peddling unfounded rumors about them. He also went on to implore Nigerians not to indulge or dilly dally in the negative media that Gist Lover promotes.

SAD! 28 family members die in auto crash

At least 28 persons said to be members of the same family are reported to have been burnt beyond recognition in a fatal auto crash that occurred on the Bauchi-Ningi federal highway in Bauchi State, according to a report from the area.

Report said that the crash occurred in the early hours of today, Thursday, December 12, 2019.

It quoted Abdullahi Yamadi, a relation of the victims and Secretary, North-West Zone of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), as confirming the sad development in a telephone interview.

Yamadi told The Newsmen: “Yes, the accident is true and all of the deceased are my relatives. “They were traveling to Yola, Adamawa State, for a visit when the unfortunate incident happened. “You know, after the harvest and at seasons like this, people travel to visit loved ones resident in different places; and that was where they were going to. “They left Dutsinma, Katsina State, and they had left Jigawa State and were within Bauchi State when their vehicle had a head-on collision with another vehicle. “They were 29 in the vehicle and all of them died except the driver, who survived. “This is a very sad news and very pathetic for 28 people from the same family to die in an accident in one day. “It is really sad.” There is no official pronouncement yet on the incident by either the Police or the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

No fewer than 111 people have been burnt to death in series of fire incidents in Kano State, State Fire Service disclosed on Friday, NAN reports.

The losses were recorded in 813 fire incidents in Kano between January and December, 2019, Saidu Muhammed, Fire Service Public Relations Officer said.

Also, the fire service said its men saved 1,055 lives and property worth N1.9 billion from 813 fire incidents during the period.

Muhammed, however, said that 111 lives were lost during the period.

“597 people were involved in road accidents, seven in collapsed buildings, 54 fell inside well, 58 fell inside open water and the remaining 97 were involved in flood, domestic fire incidents among others,” he said.

Muhammed said that property valued at N679 million were destroyed during the period, while the service received 744 rescue calls and 180 false alarms from residents.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria that road accidents, inferior electrical materials; use of boiling rings, as well as poor handling of electrical appliances, cooking gas and fireplace were major causes of the inferno.

Popular Nigerian Prophet and founder of the Warri based Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministries, Jeremiah Fufeyin has said there will be war against spiritual forces as the church converges at the October edition of its power pack prayer programme titled "SURROUNDING WATERS".

Fufeyin said in a release that the programme themed ‘War Against Marine Kingdom’ followed divine direction.

He stated in the release that winning war against spiritual forces is sacrosanct to breaking even from age long limitations.

Fufeyin, who would be ministering at the programme added that it remained unacceptable for people who desire progress in life to condone indicators such as the works of marine forces.

He said the programme would serve as a liberating point for many people across the world.

Fufeyin noted that the programme, slated to kick off by 19th of this month and end on the 23rd, would be attended from every part of the country as well as overseas.

The prophet stated further that God does not wish for anyone to be stagnated in life, adding that God has granted liberty to many biblical figure and would not fail to grant participants at the programme freedom from spiritual forces.

Coronavirus: Buhari Resumes Work After Testing Negative
